Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s face covered in blood and AC Milan star furious with referee after nasty clash with former Premier League player Gary Medel

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was furious after being left with blood streaming down his face following a nasty clash in AC Milan’s 0-0 draw with Bologna.

The 40-year-old former Manchester United star took the weight of a full-speed header from former Cardiff City and Inter Milan man Gary Medel, which left both players agony.

Both players had gone for the ball as the game entered the final ten minutes, and Medel – despite being considerably shorter than Ibrahimovic – leaped up and crashed into the left side of the legendary Swede’s face .

The pair then crashed to the ground in a heap, clutching their heads in pain, with the AC Milan star’s face dripping with blood from the impact.

Both were immediately seen by doctors, treated and bandaged.

It wasn’t long before the injured Ibrahimovic stood up to ask the referee to punish Medel for his challenge, hoping the former Bluebirds man would at least see the yellow.

However, much to the dismay of Milan’s number 11, Livio Marinelli decided not to impose a sanction on the Chilean – who came out of the clash worse -.

Medel couldn’t keep up with the clash and was quickly substituted, while Ibrahimovic – in true Zlatan style – kept playing.

AC Milan’s draw with 12th-placed Bologna means the Serie A leaders have failed to gain ground on second-placed Napoli, who are still just a point behind them.
