Zelensky wants Russia excluded from the UN
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, due to address the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, said he did not believe Russia should remain a member of the world body given its audacious and bloody invasion of his country.
Zelensky will address the UN Security Council on Wednesday. Russia will have a seat in both halls and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to make remarks.
“Whether there is a place for Russian terrorists is not a question for me. I think it is a question for all members of the United Nations,” said Zelensky, who is not not sure to listen to Lavrov’s words. remarks or leave before he speaks.
Zelensky arrived in the United States on Monday and spent time visiting wounded Ukrainian soldiers at a New York hospital. He also plans discussions with President Joe Biden and some members of Congress as he pushes for Biden’s proposals on the Ukraine aid plan.

Deadly strike on Ukrainian city could be friendly fire
The September 6 missile strike on Kostiantynivka in eastern Ukraine, which killed at least 15 civilians and injured more than 30 others, appears to have been an errant Ukrainian missile, the New York Times reports. Zelensky blamed Russian “terrorists” for the attack, sparking international outrage.
But the Times says security camera footage indicates the “tragic accident” was the result of a missile fired from territory controlled by Ukraine. Missile fragments, satellite images and eyewitness accounts “strongly suggest” that the missile was a Ukrainian air defense rocket fired by an old-fashioned, Russian-made Buk launch system, the Times said. The Ukrainian military said it was investigating the allegation.
Ukraine will “soon” receive American Abrams tanks
The high-tech M1 Abrams tanks that the United States committed to Ukraine will soon arrive in the troubled country, Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin said Tuesday. Austin, speaking before the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Germany, which brought together representatives from more than 50 countries, said the United States and other Ukraine allies have committed more than $76 billion in defense aid to Ukraine. kyiv’s counteroffensive aimed at reconquering territories conquered by Russia “continues to make steady progress,” Austin said.
