Wordle #455 Clues, Hints, and Answers for the Saturday, September 17 Puzzle

Wordle, the puzzle first made public by web developer Josh Wardle in October 2021, shows no sign of losing its extraordinary popularity.

Each day, players are tasked with guessing a five-letter word in six attempts or less. After each guess, the letters light up in different colors, indicating the accuracy of the guess. If a letter turns green, it is both in the word and in the correct position. Yellow means it’s in the word, but has been placed in the wrong place. If the letter appears in gray, it is not in the word at all.

In January, Wardle told Newsweek that his initial goal was simply to “make a game that my partner would like to play.”

The New Yorker, from the UK, admitted he often struggles with puzzles, saying: “Well, I made Wordle and I’m not very good at it, so here’s your answer! I’m afraid I’m not really the best.

“[My partner] and I play it every morning on the couch. She will consistently get it in three installments, which is way, way better than I can hope to achieve. I normally need at least 4 or 5 attempts.”

Wordle was sold to The New York Times in January for an undisclosed seven-figure sum, although he remains free to play.

The game has inspired a number of other online puzzles including Wordle, Dordle, Quordle, and the math-based Nerdle.

The answer to today’s Wordle will be revealed at the end of this article, so scroll down with caution. To help you solve it, Newsweek has provided some tips and tricks on the latest puzzle.

The answer to today’s Wordle is “Fall”.

Well, that was tough! At first glance, it’s not one of the most difficult, with two vowels and some of the most commonly used letters. But the word itself was quite unusual, more than making up for that. If you have it, congratulations! If not, we hope to see you at this time tomorrow.
