Whoopi Goldberg’s comments are once again gaining traction on social media after her decision to criticize San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, who called for denying Holy Communion to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over her stance pro-choice.

“The issue of abortion is beginning to blur the lines between church and state,” “The View” co-host said Monday. “The Archbishop of San Francisco requests that Speaker Nancy Pelosi be denied communion because of her pro-choice stance…

“It’s not your job, man. It’s not up to you to make that decision,” she added.

The comment went viral with right-wing voices attacking Goldberg on a Twitter post from The Washington Free Beacon.

“Sorry @WhoopiGoldberg, I know next to nothing about Catholicism, but even I know the Archbishop is responsible for what happens in his church,” wrote ‘The Monsey Mevaser’ contributor Joel M. Petlin and “Times-Herald”.

“Whether or not you agree with her decision to refuse communion is literally her job,” he added.

The pro-life Catholic nonprofit American Life League also weighed in, saying “it’s LITERALLY the archbishop’s job to do this.”

A chorus of commenters agreed with Petlin’s and the American Life League’s sentiments both on the wire and through quote tweets, including one from Media Research Center editor Brittany Hughes. who ripped into “The View” host to “talk.”[ing] about things she doesn’t understand” and Florida Republican congressional candidate Jose Castillo, who said Goldberg’s attacks on the Catholic Church “disgust” him.

“Thou shalt not kill is a commandment and @Pontifex said ‘abortion is murder’. @SpeakerPelosi promotes and supports abortion.

“The Archbishop has involved himself in church business not politics. Stop attacking the church!!” Castillo added.

Actor Dean Cain also chimed in with a quote tweet, cynically saying “this is NOT the Archbishop’s job…?”

The archbishop, the victim of criticism from many left-wing voices, including Goldberg, has also come under fire from left-wing voices for allegedly pushing back against Pope Francis’ wishes on the issue.
