“We still have a lot to improve”

Arsenal midfielder Matin Odegaard has told talkSPORT his side can still improve during their Premier League title charge.

The Gunners extended their lead at the top of the table with a 4-2 win over Brighton on New Year’s Eve.

Mikel Arteta’s side are now seven points clear of defending champions Manchester City and therefore control this season’s title race.

Despite such an impressive position, Odegaard believes things can only get better at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking to talkSPORT after the game, he said: “I think the best thing about it is that we still have a lot to improve, we can still improve in many areas of the game.

“I think that’s the best thing, we can improve a lot and that’s what we’re going to do, keep working hard and make sure we improve further.”

Arsenal are aiming to win their first Premier League title since 2004.

Odegaard scored and assisted in victory at Brighton, with the 24-year-old proving to be the star of the show.

The Norwegian has been praised for his effort against the Seagulls, with talkSPORT’s Gabby Agbonlahor saying he would choose Odegaard over City’s Kevin De Bruyne.

“It’s a decisive win for Arsenal,” he said.

“Odegaard’s assist for the fourth goal, if Kevin de Bruyne made that pass, we wouldn’t stop talking about it.

“On current form, I would have Odegaard over De Bruyne. He is absolutely exceptional.

Arsenal are back in action on Wednesday as they welcome third-placed Newcastle, who have also impressed this season.

A win would boost their title efforts even further, with Arteta’s Gunners establishing themselves as one of the favorites to go on and lift the Premier League trophy.
