A former DoorDash delivery boy just delivered on a bigger stage ― in an NBA game for one of the league’s storied franchises. (Watch the video below.)
Matt Ryan, who worked as a food delivery boy and at a cemetery in Yonkers, New York, before he got his chance in the big time, gave his fledgling career a shot on Wednesday. The forward sank a last-second 3-pointer to propel the Los Angeles Lakers into overtime against the visiting New Orleans Pelicans. The Lakers won 120-117, giving them their second consecutive win in a season 2-5.
“My confidence is, when it comes to shooting, it’s unwavering,” Ryan said, per ESPN. “I mean, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t.”
If the Lakers hadn’t lost a 16-point lead, Ryan wouldn’t have had the chance to make his heroic bucket.
But again, Ryan being on an NBA roster is somewhat unlikely.
Ryan was invited to Lakers training camp due to his noted shooting skills and remained with the team on an unsecured contract.
