Washington, DC crime made the city like San Francisco: Chris Bedford
| Top stories | Today Headlines
Washington, DC has become similar to San Francisco, said Chris Bedford, editor of The Federalist, in “Tucker Carlson Today,” noting that he and many others were seeking to leave the nation’s capital.
“There are stores that you don’t want to go into. There are restaurants that you don’t want to go into,” he said. “I have friends who left town because of this.
Bedford noted that this wave of crime is not happening in the affluent neighborhoods where DC’s elite live, but rather in the predominantly black poor neighborhoods.
The neighborhoods are “degraded”, he said, but “not, of course, where the mayor lives”.

“Not, of course, where city council lives, but in many areas it is deteriorating,” Bedford continues.
Bedford blamed the policies of the city’s Democratic leaders for the rise in crime.
“A city council that refuses to give money to even hire police officers, when the police force is dwindling because they want to suffocate them because they think they are unfair,” Bedford said.
“It turns out that there is not much to prevent the city from barbaric domination.

Bedford said some elites in Washington were starting to notice the upsurge in crime because it was happening near them.
“In the city now people are starting to care,” he said. “Because it’s happening at Nationals Park.”
“A lot of people are waking up. A lot of apolitical people are waking up.”
Politicians, however, have not changed their stripes, Bedford said.
“A lot of apolitical people are waking up. But politicians have generally doubled,” he said.
“Don’t come to Washington, DC It’s like San Francisco.”
