Wanda Sykes calls ‘stupid and hateful’ transgender toilet laws banning men from women’s toilets

Comedian Wanda Sykes has blasted transgender toilet laws that ban biological men from accessing women’s toilets, saying the laws are “stupid and hateful”.
In an interview with VarietyWanda Sykes explained why she tackles the transgender bathroom debate in her new Netflix stand-up special I am an artist.
“I’m not trans, but they have my 100% support,” Sykes said.
“I wanted to find something that allowed me to shed some light on what they’re going through, to show how stupid and hateful it really is. I was in a woman’s bathroom once, and I was like, ‘Who would want to come in here anyway? It was like I wanted to go check the men’s room. Sometimes it’s even cleaner.
She added: “And that’s how it all started. I’ve always been put off by bathrooms.

Sykes revealed that she dismissed some jokes from her special that might offend transgender people.
“In the trans realm, I had to take a step back from certain things that could be misinterpreted as me making fun, instead of trying to help,” she recalls.
“It was more about the laws that made it a crime for parents to help their kids who had gender identity issues. I thought, ‘You don’t know what you’re talking about, shut up and let’s just talk about the toilet.”
She said the audience laughed at the jokes. “But then I was like, ‘Wait a minute. Why are you laughing? Why are you laughing?’ So yeah, I quickly get rid of something if it’s wrong.
Sykes also slammed fellow comedian Dave Chappelle for refusing to give in to radical transgender activists who are pressuring Netflix to misrepresent his transgender jokes.
“I think what he said was so hurtful and damaging to the trans community,” she said. Variety.
As reported by Breitbart News, Sykes said in a separate interview with The Guardian that criticism of cancel culture is simply “pissed off straight men who can’t say things anymore.”
