The candidate invested by the Republicans for the presidential election, Valérie Pécresse, announced in Nantes that her future meetings would be held with gauge and health pass, promising to be “exemplary”.
If Jean Castex confirmed on December 27 that the political meetings for the presidential election could not be constrained by a gauge or a health pass, the candidate Les Républicains (LR), Valérie Pécresse, decided to apply them for her meetings. “If there are gauges for indoor shows, there will be gauges in my meetings,” she said, after a visit to the Nantes police station on December 30.
“There will also be passes, like in theaters. There will be no derogation: we will be exemplary, ”added the president of the Ile-de-France regional council, who was notably accompanied by deputy LR Eric Ciotti.
The presidential candidates are divided on the application in their campaign meetings of the new anti-Covid gauges: the National Gathering, the Insoumis and Eric Zemmour’s team are opposed to it while the presidential party of La République en Marche announced that he was going to apply them.
“I want to do everything to avoid the confinement of the vaccinated: that would seem unfair to them. Everything must be done to avoid a new confinement and I call for vaccination, ”also added Valérie Pécresse during her trip.
Responding to the attacks of the presidential majority as to his passivity in the face of the health crisis, the former minister under Nicolas Sarkozy said on the contrary “totally proactive”.
“The majority may have short memories. It was I who brought the masks, who took all the measures to secure public transport and I am fighting not to close them on the night of December 31, ”she defended herself.
