The French Prime Minister justified the need to vaccinate children aged 5 to 11 by the fact that they would be “transmitters” of Covid-19. He also mentioned the end of year celebrations and the situation of the hospital environment.
This December 11 at the microphone of France Bleu Alsace, Prime Minister Jean Castex spoke, among other subjects, on the vaccination of children.
The head of government estimated that, even if they do not develop serious forms of the disease, children “are transmitters”. He explained his position in these terms: “I am a living example. It was my 11 year old daughter who gave me the virus a few weeks ago. I was vaccinated, so I only had an extremely mild form. So yes, the vaccination of children is a necessity. ”
“We would start with those who present pathologies”, then clarified Jean Castex, while, as recalled by France Bleu, the Orientation Council of the vaccine strategy said “favorable but with reservations” to the vaccination of these children, who are not at risk of contracting serious forms of Covid-19.
Jean Castex evokes the end-of-year celebrations, hospitals and the Strasbourg Christmas market
In the rest of the interview, the Prime Minister referred to the end of year celebrations during this period of epidemic recovery. “It really depends on everyone. This means that we must respect all the rules that already exist. And you have to get vaccinated, ”he insisted, without however clearly calling for the application of the instruction of six people maximum per table which had been set out last year.
Jean Castex also addressed the situation of hospitals: “This crisis revealed real knowledge for patient care, but it also highlighted a number of difficulties. An underinvestment in health, an insufficient number of staff. ”
The day before, the head of government went to the Strasbourg Christmas market to observe the implementation of health measures. “What I have noticed is that this device is deploying satisfactorily. That is to say that there are rules, there is the pass for [certains] places [et] at least wearing a mask. There are also prevention and mediation actions. We manage to reconcile living with the virus, “said Jean Castex, saying that the measures taken by the government were” proportionate to the situation “.
