Bernard-Henri Levy, known colloquially as BHL in France, said America had no choice but to make sure Russian President Vladimir Putin did not invade Ukraine during a a “special report” on Thursday.
According to BHL, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict has reached a boiling point and Putin behaves like an enemy vis-à-vis the West. If Americans don’t want to see a redesigned world with China and Russia dominating, then they have to start caring about what’s happening in Ukraine, the French intellectual said.
“What I see is an unbelievable act of war and blackmail by Vladimir Putin…Putin is no longer a partner of Europe. He is no longer an adversary. He is acting as a enemy. And you have had in recent days a series of statements threatening Europe [with] total war. This is a very, very serious situation that goes far beyond the fate of Ukraine,” BHL told host Bret Baier.

BHL believes America has no choice but to get involved.
“We (the West) have no choice. We don’t live in a world of angels… The next step could be that Taiwan could be somewhere else, and the whole map of the world will be changed. We will live in another Chinese-dominated, Russian-dominated world. Is that what American voters want? If we want peace, we have to accept the Cold War.

“[Ukraine has] a … strong army with high patriotic morale, and they will fight. Therefore, this war, if Putin decides to invade, will be very bloody and dirty. Today’s Ukrainians are able to fight, to defend themselves. I saw their trenches, I saw their weapons. They don’t have enough to win, but they have enough to defend.”
President Biden spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday to reaffirm the commitment of the United States and its allies to “respond decisively if Russia continues to invade,” according to the White House.
The White House has denied a report that Biden informed Zelenskyy of an almost certain invasion. The White House’s swift response comes after Biden predicted in a marathon two-hour press conference that Russia would invade its neighbor.
