Ukrainian President Zelensky has ‘no serious injuries’ after car crash in Kyiv

According to a statement from the President’s press secretary, “a car collided with the Ukrainian President’s car and escort vehicles”.

Doctors accompanying Zelensky provided emergency assistance to the driver of the car and transferred him to an ambulance, he added.

“The president was examined by a doctor, no serious injuries were found,” the statement added.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Earlier on Wednesday, Zelensky traveled to the recently liberated Izium in the northeastern region of Kharkiv, five days after the country’s forces recaptured the town.

Photographs on an army unit’s Facebook page showed Zelensky at a ceremony in the main square to hoist the Ukrainian flag on the city’s administrative building. Hanna Maliar, the Deputy Defense Minister, was also present.

“Before, when we looked up, we were always looking for the blue sky. Today, when we look up, we are only looking for one thing: the flag of Ukraine,” Zelensky said in a post on the presidential channel Telegram.

“Our blue-yellow flag is already flying in the deoccupied Izium. And so it will be in every Ukrainian town and village. We are moving in one direction: forward and towards victory.
