Prudky never turned professional as a boxer, competing only as an amateur and in semi-professional competitions.

He was twice a national amateur champion in Ukraine and therefore was called up to the Ukrainian Atamans team to compete for them in the WSB (World Series of Boxing) semi-professional competition.

Ukrainian boxing icons Vasyl Lomachenko and Oleksandr Usyk represented their country on this team before Prudky, who followed in their footsteps fighting in the WSB in 2015.

Prudky worked for the police in his local region of Cherkasy as part of the special forces to defend Ukraine.

He was one of four men who died in the attack.

Prudky leaves behind a wife, Mariana, and two young daughters.

The Cherkasy police announced the death of its officers, including Prudky, in a statement: “They defended Ukraine – the dead police heroes of the Cherkasy region.

“On May 22, in defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, our police colleagues from the Special Operations Department of the KORD Department of the Main National Police Directorate were killed.

“There are no words to express the pain, the despair at the irreparable loss.

“We bow our heads and bow to their parents. In our memory, they will remain honest and principled people, good friends and reliable colleagues.

“We express our deepest condolences to their relatives and friends. We remember, we miss you. Brilliant memory.

Prudky’s wife, Mariana, posted a series of images of him on social media, along with a tribute.

She wrote: “War – it takes away the best. I don’t believe, I don’t believe that you are no more.

“What I won’t hear – Hello honey! I’m fine! How are the girls? And the most important thing is that you will never tell me again – I love you.

“You were like a radiant sun, an example for your children, who adore you so much and ask for you every time, and when dad comes.

“How can I tell them they’ll never see you again?”

“You have been an example for your friends and colleagues. You are my angel. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.”
