Ukraine reports new Russian drone attacks

Kyiv, Ukraine — Russia deployed several drones overnight to attack parts of Ukraine and dozens were shot down, Ukrainian officials said on Monday.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said Monday morning that 40 explosive drones “headed towards Kyiv” overnight, according to the Air Defense Force, and they were all destroyed.
Klitschko said 22 drones were destroyed over Kyiv, three in Kyiv’s outlying region and 15 over neighboring provinces.
Infrastructure in the capital was damaged and an explosion occurred in an area of the city, the mayor said. It was not immediately clear whether this was caused by drones or other ordnance.
In Kyiv’s outlying region, which was also attacked with drones, a “critical infrastructure object” and residential buildings were hit, Governor Oleksiy Kuleba said.
Seven drones were shot down over the southern Mykolaiv region, according to Governor Vitali Kim, and three more were shot down in the southeast Dnipropetrovsk region, Governor Valentyn Reznichenko said.
