UFL 2024: Troy Williams-Daewood Davis TD leads top 10 Week 5 plays

Week 5 of UFL the season had it all.

The Birmingham Stallions remained undefeated with a win over the Houston Roughnecks (1-4), while the San Antonio Brahmas improved to 4-1 with a win over the winless Arlington Renegades. Meanwhile, the St. Louis Battlehawks (4-1) scored 45 points against the DC Defenders (2-3) and the Michigan Panthers (3-2) upset the Memphis Showboats (1-4).

There was a lot of spectacular action this weekend and we had the difficult task of keeping it to a minimum.

With that said, here are the top 10 plays of week 5!

10. CB Levonta Taylor and L.B. Noah DawkinsPanthers

Michigan’s defense was tenacious during the first half of Sunday’s contest against Memphis. The Panthers’ offense got off to a 13-0 start, and just when it looked like Memphis was knocking on the door, Taylor and Dawkins worked together to force Michigan’s biggest defensive play of the day.

Dawkins ran 81 yards after recovering a fumble before being stopped just before the end zone.

9.RB Matthew Colburn IIPanthers

Michigan’s second touchdown of the day was an utter disaster. Panthers RB Wes Hills put three scores on the board in the team’s win, but Colburn’s might have been the most impressive. He made several defenders miss before weaving his way into the end zone.

8. CB Myles DornRenegades

Arlington was unable to earn its first win of the season, but a nice grab from Dorn may have been the best play of the game.

7.LB Kai NacuaPanthers

Nacua looked like his brother Puka this weekend, as he set up for an impressive interception that helped maintain Michigan’s lead in the fourth quarter.

6.S JoJo TilleryStallions

Tillery usurped his best identity as a receiver after throwing a sliding interception in the team’s rout of Houston. Tillery extended his body to take the grab, before making several offenders miss to put his team in solid position on the field.

5. QBs Quinten Dormady to T.E. Alizé MackBrahmas

Mack uncorked a vicious stiff arm en route to San Antonio’s first touchdown of the game against Arlington. The big tight end had three receptions for 36 yards and the score on the outing.

4. QBs Luis Perez to WR JP PaytonRenegades

Perez has been the epitome of efficiency to begin the 2024 campaign, starting his season with 77 consecutive pass attempts without an interception. He threw one last week against Houston, but it bounced back against San Antonio with a beautiful sailing lob to JP Payton.

3. QBs Reid Sinnett has W.R. Keke Chismethe bullies

Houston didn’t have much to hang on to in its 32-9 loss to Birmingham, but this one-handed grab from Chism deserves to hang in the Louvre. Chism showed impeccable body control to turn around and complete this pass from Sinnett.

2. QBs AJ McCarron to WR Hakeem ButlerBattlehawks

Butler would not be stopped during this 80-yard home run. He separated himself from his defender while pointing to this pass from McCarron and let his speed do the rest as he raced toward the end zone.

1. QBs Troy Williams to WR Daewood DavisDemonstration boats

It took Memphis just 11 seconds and one play to score its first touchdown of the day against Michigan. It happened with 20 seconds left in the first half when Memphis decided points were key, rather than getting down on their knees and figuring things out on the break.

The team’s aggressiveness paid off, as Williams and Davis connected on an 82-yard field goal.
