The UFC que Choisir filed a complaint against 12 banks accused of not reimbursing their customers who were victims of bank fraud.
When fraud is observed on the account of an individual, the bank is supposed to reimburse the amount of the dispute, but according to the consumer association, this is not always the case. UFC que Choisir noted 4,500 reports of refusal of payment reports. This is why the association has decided to file a complaint against 12 banking establishments for “misleading commercial practices”.
“The law says that the consumer who is the victim of fraud must be reimbursed immediately. And, once he has been negligent, the bank must prove it in order not to reimburse him. Unfortunately, too often, this is not the case”, explains one of the leaders of the association. However, the banks recall in a press release, Tuesday, June 28 in the morning, that “85% of requests in the event of disputed card payment transactions are reimbursed”. They throw the ball back into the consumer’s court by accusing them of gross negligence.
