Two children hospitalized after mysterious contamination in a Toulouse nursery

Children from a Minimes nursery in Toulouse were hospitalized following poisoning with E.coli bacteria, the origin of which remains unknown to this day.
A daycare center will reopen in Toulouse this Wednesday after a serious health problem that occurred on Friday, November 10. Two children were hospitalized following contamination by E. coli bacteria.
Toulouse town hall has taken the decision to close the crèche from Monday November 13 to Tuesday November 21 inclusive, the time necessary to carry out analyses, in conjunction with the ARS and the departmental laboratory.
Food out of cause
“The first results have ruled out the feeding of toddlers. Furthermore, samples were taken from different surfaces where germs found are analyzed to determine if they are the cause of the children’s illnesses. Toulouse town hall will inform parents of the results as soon as they are known” indicates the community this Tuesday morning.
The Toulouse town hall indicates that it has reinforced all the cleaning protocols of the nursery with the intervention of the CPIAS (Support Center for the Prevention of Healthcare-Associated Infections) and the 18 agents of the structure. Deliveries of additional equipment were carried out to allow the total disinfection of the establishment.
Reopening this Wednesday
On Wednesday November 22, the nursery will be able to open its doors again with complete peace of mind. A screening test was requested from parents for all children and that of agents is in progress, specifies the Toulouse town hall. The return to the establishment of children and agents is conditional on a negative result to avoid a new outbreak of contamination.
