Twitter’s Elon Musk predicts Trump will be re-elected in a ‘landslide victory’ if arrested

Twitter CEO Elon Musk predicted on Saturday that former President Donald Trump would be re-elected in a “landslide” if he is charged – or possibly arrested potentially “handcuffed” – next week.
“If that happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory,” Musk tweeted.
Musk was reacting to a Fox News segment that detailed how the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office requested a meeting with law enforcement ahead of Trump’s possible indictment next week.
According to a judicial source, the appointment was requested on Thursday and has not been fixed. The meeting is to “discuss logistics for some time next week, which would mean they are anticipating a arraignment next week,” the source familiar with the planning said. The Secret Service should take the lead on what they will and will not allow – for example, the decision to handcuff Trump t.
TRUMP SAYS ‘ILLEGAL LEAKS’ INDICATE HE WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY
The potential indictment stems from the lengthy investigation surrounding Trump’s alleged payment of ‘silence money’ to the actress stormy daniels. Towards the end of the 2016 presidential campaign, Michael Cohen, then Trump’s lawyer, sent Daniels $130,000 to stop him from disclosing a 2006 affair with Trump. Trump repaid Cohen in installments. The office, led by DA Alvin Bragg, has been investigating the silent money scandal – which took place in 2016 – for five years.
On Saturday morning, Trump posted about the possible indictment on Truth Social, saying he would be “ARRESTED ON TUESDAY.”

“NOW ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPTED AND HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT LAW OFFICE, WHICH HAS HELPED SET NEW VIOLENT CRIME RECORDS AND WHOSE HEAD IS FUNDED BY GEORGE SOROS, INDICATE THAT, NO CRIME PROVEN, AND BASED ON AN ANCIENT FAIRY TALE FULLY DEBUNKED (BY MANY OTHER PROSECUTORS!), THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE AND FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY NEXT WEEK. OUR NATION!” Trump wrote.
Contacted for comment on Friday, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office did not “confirm or comment” on the impending indictment.
The possibility of an impeachment has reignited the online conversation about how it could affect Trump’s bid for the White House in 2024, and renewed claims by Trump allies that the investigation was politically motivated.
“IT’S EVERYTHING FOR POLITICS! This is what they do in communist countries to destroy their political opponents! Republicans in Congress MUST subpoena these communists and STOP this!” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., tweeted.

“If they handcuff Trump, he’s your next president,” he said.
Others weren’t so sure. Washington Post Columnist Greg Sargent noted that there had been similar predictions of Trump-boosting scandals that had not come to fruition.
“Again, we’re told holding Trump accountable for corruption/crimes will lead to GOP victories. But that didn’t happen. People said impeachment would cause backlash, but he lost reelex,” he said. “People said the 1/6 committee would cause backlash, but Rs has significantly underperformed in 2022.”
