It’s the day before the January transfer window – and that means we’re moments away from kicking off an exciting month of market activity.
Having already signed Ferran Torres from Manchester City, Barcelona are continuing their reconstruction under Xavi and are linked with a surprise deal for ex-Real Madrid striker from Juventus, Alvaro Morata. This could then pave the way for the old lady to strike a deal with Liverpool’s Divock Origi.
Arsenal are also set to be big players in the coming window and we bring you the latest updates on potential deals for Philippe Coutinho, Tariq Lamptey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Elsewhere, Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has made a statement about the Manchester United star’s future and Tottenham are reportedly after a new goalkeeper at West Brom’s Sam Johnstone.
At Chelsea, the club could oppose it by trying to tie defender Andreas Christensen to a new contract after a “complicated” turning point in his future with the Blues.

PSG’s Mbappe hopes are not over
Kylian Mbappe could stay with Paris Saint-Germain next season.
Real Madrid are very interested in the French striker, who has already ruled out the idea of a January departure.
Out of contract this summer, L’Equipe say talks on a new deal are still ongoing and not yet completely dead.
Lamptey at Arsenal?
Arsenal are interested in a deal for Brighton full-back Tariq Lamptey, it has been claimed.
Mikel Arteta could do without Sead Kolasinac soon and is not a big fan of Cedric Soares, which means competing with Takehiro Tomiyasu at right-back could be a priority in the market.
Transfer reporter Duncan Castles has said a deal is on the cards, if the money is right for Brighton.
Johnstone on Spurs radar
Tottenham reportedly want West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
The English reserve contract expires this summer, as does Hugo Lloris’ contract at Spurs.
And talkSPORT describes Tottenham’s hopes of landing at Johnstone, with West Ham, Newcastle and Southampton equally excited.
Erling Haaland reflects on Dortmund renewal
Erling Haaland will decide on his next step in February, according to Bild.
The German publication says a record club contract offer will be put on the table by Borussia Dortmund to stamp out their buyout clause becoming active this summer.
And Haaland could earn up to £ 250,000 a week if he stays.
Hammers enter the market
David Moyes is set to take some serious action in the January transfer market after seeing previous success in the window with West Ham.
Asked if he feels the club are ready to act when the window opens this weekend, Moyes said: “I would love to say yes. Do we want to act? Yes, we do. Are we ready to act? Probably not.
“It doesn’t have to do with resources but with availability, usually it looks like a tough market. We say that every year but it’s like that.
“All I would say is that our last windows of January saw us get [Tomas] Soucek, [Jarrod] Bowen and Jesse Lingard, so if I could find someone who would give us that level of success during the January window, that would be seen as a positive. “
Andreas Christensen’s future at Chelsea is said to be bleak after “complications” in negotiating his new contract.
With his deal existing this summer, the Dane is in talks to sign a renewal, but Gianluca Di Marzio reporter Nathan Gissing has claimed the deal has stalled.
Christensen is reportedly open to a new challenge amid Barcelona interest.
Arsenal could step up their offer for Philippe Coutinho with technical director Edu leading the negotiations.
Football.London said the former midfielder had a good relationship with the Barcelona man after working as the Brazilian national team coordinator between 2016 and 2019.
A fee of just £ 18million could be enough to lure Coutinho to north London.
Juventus on the move Origi
Juventus could shock Divock Origi if Alvaro Morata leaves for Barcelona.
The Spain forward is said to be sure that Juve do not want his Atletico Madrid loan to be permanent and has therefore given the green light to join the Clasico rivals of the former Real Madrid side.
The only thing missing is the agreement between Atletico and Barcelona, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
This will then force Juventus to look for a new striker, where Mauro Icardi and Edinson Cavani would be interesting.
And Liverpool reserve striker Origi is said to be on that list now, with the Bianconeri taking the ‘first steps’ to assess a deal.
Jorge Mendes confirms Ronaldo is happy at Manchester United
Jorge Mendes told Sky Sports that Cristiano Ronaldo remains committed to Manchester United despite a difficult season for the club as a whole.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is very happy at Man United. He will continue with his solid and excellent performances as always in his career. It will be a great season for him I’m sure.
