ntonio Conte is not expected to have players unavailable via Covid for West Ham’s visit, as his entire first-team returned negative tests ahead of the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

But the Tottenham head coach said he couldn’t play the same team or formation that impressed so much against Liverpool in every game during the busy festive schedule, with the nine first-team players who fell with Covid must be managed with special attention.

“I have to find the right solution to be competitive in every game and handle the Covid situation in the right way and give the opportunity to rest, especially the players who had Covid and played the last game,” said Conte Tuesday.

Harry Winks and Dele Alli are hoping to hold onto their midfield positions after impressing against Liverpool, but Oliver Skipp could return to complete the three in place of Tanguy Ndombele.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is expected to be back in the squad, having missed Sunday’s game, but may only be ready for a place on the bench.

Ryan Sessegnon suffered a muscle injury against Liverpool, which should rule him out for up to two weeks. Sergio Reguilon should therefore start at left-back, while Matt Doherty could replace Emerson Royal on the opposite flank.

Lucas Moura could step into the attack, giving Heung-min Son a rest, while Joe Rodon or Japhet Tanganga could be preferred over Ben Davies in the bottom three in a relatively new squad.

Tottenham predicted XI (3-5-2): Lloris ; Sanchez, Dier, Rodon; Doherty, Skipp, Winks, Dele, Reguilon; Lucas, Kane.
