Tottenham ‘got away with it’ in Bournemouth win as Gabby Agbonlahor says Antonio Conte’s side are one-dimensional, easy to discover and claims Davinson Sanchez ‘should never play again’

Tottenham have become too one-dimensional and easily discovered under Antonio Conte, according to talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor.

Spurs showed their character as they battled to a 3-2 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez should never play for the club again

But many fans would have been frustrated by another lackluster first-half performance.

Wales international Kieffer Moore struck twice to give the Cherries a superb 2-0 lead at Vitality Stadium, and was good value for money as the visitors failed to impress.

However, Spurs activated him as Conte made sweeping changes to his squad in the second half.

Ryan Sessegnon’s goal came out of nowhere but sent the north Londoners into high gear, Ben Davies leveling Tottenham with a header before Rodrigo Bentancur secured an unlikely victory in the second minute of stoppage time with a goal from a free kick.

Despite sealing three more points to stay third in the Premier League, Agbonlahor was unconvinced.

“Spurs got away with one tonight,” the former Aston Villa captain said on talkSPORT’s Full Time Phone-In.

Rodrigo Bentancur scored a spectacular stoppage-time winner for Spurs on the south coast

“If you look at the goals they scored, it was bad Bournemouth defending and they were unlucky.

“If you stop Harry Kane and stop Heung-min Son, you stop Spurs, and for most of the game that’s exactly what Bournemouth did.

“Tottenham started the game with just two forwards on the pitch. Antonio Conte wants to play defensive football, but he was very poor from Spurs.”

It was a particularly poor outing for defender Davinson Sanchez, who was dragged in the 58th minute and replaced by Eric Dier who then played out of position in a back-three – showing how Conte felt about his display.

Spurs snapped a two-game losing streak but were forced to work in the five-goal thriller

And Agbonlahor was also unimpressed, so much so that he wouldn’t be surprised if you never see him playing in a Spurs shirt again under Conte.

“The other thing is Davinson Sanchez – I wouldn’t play him again. I wouldn’t play him for Spurs again.

“The combination of Sanchez and Emerson Royal on the right side is appalling, let’s be honest.

“Why can’t Spurs get up for first half games?”

Tottenham fan, talkSPORT presenter and host of Spurs podcast ‘The View from the Lane’, Danny Kelly joined Gabby on the show, and he had his say on the state of the current squad.

And he doesn’t seem impressed – like many North London fans – with the way Conte plays with his side and the way he squanders his world-class attacking talent.

“They are so defensive, in the big European leagues I don’t see another top team as defensive as Spurs – not even Atletico Madrid these days,” he said.

“It’s on their minds now not to go out and try at the start of games, and yet at the end of the game, to be fair to them, they had over 20 shots and over 20 corners.

Ben Davies was also on the Spurs scoresheet as they remain third in the Premier League table

“So on paper they were the better team and they got the three points, but their performances don’t match their results.

“Spurs are a very Italian team now, I can’t complain about the results because the points per game are still very good.

“But it’s hard to watch if you’re a Tottenham fan and I’m still not sure that’s the best use of forwards they have on the books there.”
