Tommy Bracco Explains Why His Childhood ‘Failures’ Led Him To Join ‘The Challenge’


Tommy Bracco told Newsweek on what made him sign up The Challenge: Ride or Die.

Bracco, 32, who is paired on the show with his former Big brother co-star and best friend Analyze Talavera, 25, has been open about his asthma and says it was his experience living with the lung disease that prompted him to join The challenge line up.

“I think it goes back to my partnership with Regeneron and Sanofi through this LungZone campaign,” he said. Newsweekadding: “I always wanted to push myself because of my childhood setbacks. My asthma was a big problem when I was younger, especially growing up.”

Bracco has partnered with LungZone, a website that shares resources for people with moderate to severe asthma to find helpful steps towards better lung health.

“I wanted to prove that I could be a normal kid and do everything normal kids could do. I’ve always been the kind of person who wanted to push my limits, and that’s why I grew up as a gymnast. , a dancer, and then went to Broadway and then started this world of reality TV,” Bracco said.

He added that The challenge was the ‘perfect way’ for him to test his limits, but admitted: ‘It was nothing I could have imagined, much harder. But I didn’t have any difficulties because of my asthma , for which I am very grateful [for].”

Despite his severe respiratory illness, Bracco said he was not worried about suffering symptoms while filming the show, hailing the asthma drug Dupixent as his saviour.

“So my honest truth is that I haven’t had to worry about my asthma since I started taking Dupixent. I’m a very dramatic person, sorry to be dramatic, but this has really changed my life,” Bracco said. “It’s really helped me manage my symptoms in a way I never thought I’d, and the truth is that before I didn’t know what I was missing.”
