Three people suspected of murder after the death of a 17-year-old boy in Greater Manchester have been arrested.
Callum Riley was found seriously injured in Heywood, Rochdale, on Saturday morning and died shortly afterwards, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
Officers arrested an 18-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman on suspicion of murder and took one into custody for questioning, while the other was receiving hospital treatment for an injury. Later in the day, a second man, 33, was arrested, the spokesperson said.
DCI Gina Brennand said, “On behalf of GMP, I send my condolences to Callum’s family. A specially trained officer has been deployed to liaise with them and ensure they are fully briefed on our investigation.
“Since this morning, we have made progress in establishing all the circumstances surrounding this incident and have made a third arrest. However, our investigations are very much in progress and we continue to request information.
“We are continually assessing the impact of this incident on local communities, but I repeat that we do not believe there is a risk to the public. Officers from Rochdale District will be making a visible presence in the coming days for reassurance. »
Police said that before Callum was found, another man had sought help from people at a nearby property.
