The recent impressive run of rsenal results and performances has been led by young stars Mikel Arteta, with the club’s Hale End academy producing something to be excited about.
Here are three young players who could be set for a big year in 2022 …
There hasn’t been so much excitement in Arsenal academy since a certain Jack Wilshere rose through the ranks. Patino is a talented central midfielder who enjoys dropping the ball and playing.
For the first team he is likely to play a bigger role and the chance to learn from Granit Xhaka, who is also left-handed, could be helpful for his development. A championship club loan can also be a good idea in the New Year.
Arsenal could suddenly run out of attackers and that just might open the door for Balogun to come forward.
The 20-year-old was in prolific form for the club’s Under-23 team and is expected on loan in January, most likely to a championship team.
Upon his return, Balogun could find that Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah – who are at the end of their contract – are gone and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could also be gone.
Arsenal will need reinforcements in attack to cover these losses, but Balogun could be a valuable team option.
The center-back is set to have a big 2022, but the question is whether it’s Arsenal or not.
Saliba joined the Gunners in 2019 and three years later he still hasn’t played for them, although he was initially given the No.4 shirt.
He has performed well on loan at Marseille this season and the 20-year-old could surely compete for places from Gabriel and Ben White.
It remains to be seen, however, whether Saliba would agree to be the third choice after a regular football season in France.
