‘They’re everywhere’ – Alarming Liverpool stat shows Jurgen Klopp’s men have same problem as Tottenham

Liverpool conceded first again against Brentford and it is quickly becoming a familiar issue for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

The Reds found themselves two goals behind at Gtech Community Stadium on Monday night after an own goal from Ibrahima Konaté and a header from Yoane Wissa before half-time.

It was another slow start for Liverpool

It is not the first time that Liverpool have given themselves a mountain to climb, conceding the opening goal in 11 of their 25 appearances this season.

Much has been made of Tottenham’s slow starts, given that they conceded the opening goal of the seventh consecutive Premier League game in their 2-0 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday.

But according to ex-Reds midfielder Danny Murphy, his former side have the exact same problem.

“It’s definitely been a problem for them,” Murphy told talkSPORT when briefed on the stats.

Brentford’s first goal came from a corner, but the move leading up to it saw Liverpool open up in a style similar to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s first goal for Leicester at Anfield on Friday.

Murphy added: “Sometimes you can be unlucky conceding a goal. It was an own goal that went off his knee.

“But how easily they were opened the minute before the goal is more concerning with good play between the lines for Brentford.”

Wissa doubled the lead after Brentford had two goals ruled out for offside as Liverpool were lucky to enter the break just two goals down.

The halftime scoreline was even more surprising given the Bees were without talisman Ivan Toney through injury.

Murphy continued: “Liverpool are everywhere, they are everywhere.

“[Kostas] Tsimikas is having a terrible night, they can’t defend the crosses…

“Brentford deserve it, they really did. We haven’t mentioned Ivan Toney once, which is the biggest compliment we can give them.
