The harvest began at the beginning of August for certain regions. Several weeks in advance this year to pick sun-drenched grapes after an exceptional drought. Winegrowers are living witnesses of global warming, which we can no longer deny.
“The wine, which is therefore more mature, will evolve further over the next ten years”, believes Thierry Marx. The difficulty for these harvests is not to leave the grapes too long on the vine, otherwise they will become too strong in alcohol. Scientific tools provide valuable assistance in controlling the alcohol level to perfection.
A dry and hot summer represents a slightly lower yield, but the vintage promises to be excellent. “We have very high sunshine and a scarcity of the productcontinues Thierry Marx. This risks driving up the prices of this 2022 vintage, especially for the major appellations.”
The lack of water did not seem to have played too much on the vines, which are used to suffering. This power of the sun should, on the contrary, give exceptional wines that we can start drinking within three years.
