The 25,000 square meters of bluish silver fabric and the 3,000 meters of red rope had been fully deployed around the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and inaugurated on September 18. Tuesday, October 4 came the time to dismantle the work of Jeanne-Claude and Christo, thought in 1962, while they were looking at the monument from their first Parisian apartment, avenue Foch.

At a cost of 14 million euros, the project is entirely self-financed, without public subsidy, thanks to the sale of original works by Christo, preparatory drawings, souvenirs, models and lithographs.
