The Witcher season 4 will replace Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth as Geralt

Henry Cavill will not star in Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ season 4.

The titan of streaming announcement via Twitter on Saturday that the fantasy drama will return without Cavill.

After the debut of the third season, Liam Hemsworth will step in for Season 4 to reprise the lead role of Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter for hire.

“It’s official: The Witcher is returning for Season 4, and Henry Cavill will hand over his swords to Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt of Rivia after Season 3. Welcome to the Witcher family, @LiamHemsworth!” the show’s official page wrote on Twitter.

Cavill also released a statement on social media, calling Hemsworth “fantastic” while sharing that he is “passing the torch” to the Aussie actor.

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventure, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and swords for Season 4,” Cavill wrote on Instagram.

He added: “In my place, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will take on the role of the white wolf. As with literary greats, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent playing Geralt and with excitement to see Liam’s perspective on this most fascinating and nuanced man. Liam, good sir, this character has such wonderful depth to him, take the opportunity to dive in and see what you can find.

Hemsworth – who is best known for his role as Gale Hawthorne in ‘The Hunger Games’ series – followed up with his own statement on Instagram, adding that he was “honoured that [Cavill] hand over the reins to me.

Hemsworth wrote in the post, “As a Witcher fan, I’m thrilled at the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an amazing Geralt, and I’m honored to have him hand over the reins to me. lets take the blades of the white wolf for the next chapter of his adventure.

He continued: “Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and I’ve been inspired by what you’ve brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m really delighted to enter the world of “The Witcher”.

Based on the book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski, the live-action adaptation of ‘The Witcher’, which first aired in December 2019, follows Geralt as “he journeys towards his destiny in a turbulent world where people often turn out to be more wicked than beasts”. ”, according to the official Netflix site.

Season 3 of “The Witcher” will be released in the summer of 2023, but the streamer has been tight-lipped on specific plot details.
