The three youngsters have reportedly impressed new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag in training in hopes they could be long-term replacements for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Erik ten Hag has only been coaching at Manchester United for a few days – but there are already three youngsters who would impress their new boss.

The Dutchman has a good record of promoting young players to the first team, something he did so well at Ajax.

And there are a trio of teenagers at Old Trafford who want to follow in the footsteps of Sergino Dest, Jurrien Timber, Ryan Gravenberch and Noa Lang, all of whom were given opportunities through Ten Hag in his former club’s first team.

The Sun reports that Zidane Iqbal is one of them, having signed a new contract with the Premier League side earlier this summer.

The 19-year-old, who made his first-team debut against Young Boys in the Champions League last December, has ‘shocked’ his new boss who could be placed under the Dutch boss for more minutes.

Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho is another who has caught Ten Hag’s eye in training, having scored twice in the FA Youth Cup final against Nottingham Forest last season.

Garnacho, 18, trained with the senior Argentina side earlier this year, having made two appearances in the sub for United.

He also received the hat-trick ball from Cristiano Ronaldo after his hat-trick against Norwich.

Hannibal Mejbri, 19, made several appearances towards the end of last season, including a fiery performance in the club’s heavy loss to Liverpool.

And he’s another academy graduate Ten Hag could throw into the first team, especially with Ronaldo reportedly keen to leave the club.

To expect any of this trio to immediately replace the runaway superstar would be unrealistic.

But, give him a few years, and United could have the next Ronaldo on their hands.
