The Russian military reported carrying out a drone attack on the night of September 2-3 against port facilities in Reni, on the Danube in southern Ukraine.
“Overnight, the Russian Air Force carried out a group strike with drones on fuel depots used to refuel military equipment of the Ukrainian army in the port of Reni,” the Russian Defense Ministry said on September 3. . The objective of the strike was “achieved” and all targets hit, he added.
The port of Reni is in the Odessa region, on the border with Romania. “The enemy attacked civilian industrial infrastructure in the Danube region,” Ukraine’s prosecutor general’s office said on Telegram. “The attack left two injured, who were hospitalized,” he said.
Russian strikes in the Black Sea have increased since the Ukrainian attack on the Crimean bridge on July 17, also coinciding with Russia’s withdrawal from the grain agreement, protesting against the non-respect of the clauses concerning it. The Russian military has since reported carrying out a series of retaliatory strikes in Odessa, Ilyichevsk and Nikolaev, including against drone production and storage sites, ammunition depots and fuel storage facilities.
