the reinforced and extended transport bonus for employees

The price of fuel has doubled in recent months, exceeding the two euro per liter mark. This is a very complicated situation for most motor vehicle drivers, especially for those forced to borrow the car every day to get to work. Thus, in its bill on purchasing power, the government plans to revalue the “transport premium” and to extend the list of its beneficiaries.

The “transport bonus”, hitherto intended for employees far from public transport, could be extended to all drivers of motorized vehicles, regardless of where they live and even in Ile-de-France. Its amount, hitherto capped at 200 euros per year, could double. It is obviously a measure that is eagerly awaited by employees but that not all companies will have the means to finance.

“The company must have the means”

“This aid is paid directly by the business manager. There can be no government aid so it is necessarily a significant cost depending on the number of employees for the companies. And for a company to be able to give, she has to have the means”, explains Benedicte Caron, vice-president of the CPME.

A temporary device

“For me, for example, it’s a bonus that I’ve never put in place in my company. I’m in a rural area, so practically everyone comes by car. Even if I limit myself to 400 euros, it is 40,000 euros cost for the company.” This bonus would be a temporary device valid only this year and next year, but which can be combined with the employer’s payment of public transport subscriptions.
