Saturday, May 14, the “Chemin de traverse” section of 13 Heures presents the Dungeon of Bours, a vestige of the Middle Ages present in Pas-de-Calais, which is the pride of its village.
In the middle of Pas-de-Calais, the 700-year-old keep of Bours is one of the rare vestiges of the Middle Ages in the region. It was the residence of the Lord of Bours. “It was still necessary to show its local power (…) with an atypical architecture”explains Christelle Denis, manager of the Bours dungeon site. In the castle, visitors listen to a musician who transports them to the Middle Ages. “When we arrive on stones, we believe them to be dead and they have also been at the forefront of incredible scenes of life“, underlines Stephane Hiccupfrom the Mille company Hello.
Inhabited until the 1960s, the dungeon was ceded to the municipality for one euro, then was restored. The listed monument is the pride of the 624 inhabitants of the village. The town hall has even celebrated weddings in this castle. “The newlyweds were very happy, took very beautiful photos”se Bernadette remembers Noé, mayor of Bours from 1982 to 2014. The dungeon can be visited by reservation.
