The Evan McMullin torch growth club for ‘rigid’ salespeople

The Club for Growth will run an ad blazing Never Trump and Utah Senate independent candidate Evan McMullin for “empowering” small business sellers, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.

“I knew what it would do to my business if I didn’t get paid,” Utah small business owner Chad Saunders said in the ad. “I think if people knew that Evan McMullin stiffed people who tried to help him…$600,000, think what people go through, and I don’t think he thinks about it at all. He got what he needed and moved on.

“I think Utah needs a payday for Evan McMullin, that’s the hallmark of a crook. Once you’ve been burned, it’s hard to go back,” Saunders added.

The Club for Growth ad points out that McMullin still owes more than $670,000 to the many campaign salesmen who contributed to his failed 2016 presidential campaign against former President Donald Trump.

While it is not uncommon for many presidential campaigns to take years to fully repay their vendors, after five years McMullin has not properly repaid his campaign debt to various vendors.

For example, it took Hillary Clinton four years to pay off her millions of dollars in campaign debt in 2008.

As of April 2022, McMullin reportedly still owes $670,000 to various vendors for his 2016 campaign.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reported in 2018 that many of his former campaign staff believed McMullin had no intention of paying them, even though he owed them tens of thousands of dollars.

A former McMullin campaign staffer said the former presidential candidate had “no remorse” for going so far into debt.

“To me, Evan didn’t seem to really understand or care that there were families that this debt was really hurting, he doesn’t want to do any of that,” the former staffer said.

“I don’t think he even knows who he still owes money to, or even cares. Which is really sad,” the staff member added.

An internal poll for McMullin’s opponent, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), found Lee leading McMullin by 18 points, or double digits.
