Saturday, May 14, the Red Cross launches its national collection. In a context of rising prices, the French are less generous than usual.
The Red Cross is launching its great national quest on Saturday May 14. The economic context has an impact on donations to associations. “Times are particularly complicated for many and with the conflict in Ukraine too, it is not going to stop” remarks Adriana Karembeu, ambassador of the Red Cross. “It is important, in this, to explain that solidarity is something essential, including in times of crisis”explains Philippe Da Costa, president of the French Red Cross.
In 2021, the French gave 274 euros on average, which represents 30% less than in 2020. For 57% of them, they gave less due to the drop in purchasing power, when 36% are afraid of inflation. “The decline in purchasing power, the rise in inflation, even the rise in the price of basic necessities are causing some concern among the French”says Stéphane Dauge, communications director for apprentices at Auteuil.
