A four-game series between the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox kicked off Friday night with a relatively innocuous second-inning bench clearance after pitcher Michael Kopech hit. Orioles shortstop Jorge Mateo with a 99 mph fastball out the back.

Kopech had a 1-2 count when he pinned Mateo near the left shoulder with a throw similar to the one that dived Chicago’s Josh Harrison Thursday.
