The Houston Astros remained alive.
Martin Maldonado was 1-for-2 with three RBIs and Carlos Correa added two RBIs in the team’s comeback victory over the Atlanta Braves in Game 5, 9-5.

The Astros had to dig deep to get back into the game. Braves outfielder Adam Duvall hit a home run in the first inning that could have put the nail in the coffin for any team, but not for the Astros.
Houston scored two runs in the second inning thanks to a fly sack from Maldonado and a brace from Alex Bregman RBI. The Astros would tie the game again in the third inning thanks to a brace from Correa that scored Michael Brantley and a Yuli Gurriel on the ground scored in Jose Altuve. The game was tied at that point 4-4.
Freddie Freeman would wake up late in the third inning with a solo 460-foot shot to give Atlanta a point. But it would be the last point scored for the Braves.

A two-point single from Marwin Gonzalez and a walk by Maldonado with the goals loaded gave the Astros two points. Maldonado will strike again in the seventh and Correa in the eighth to climb four points.
The Houston relievers box won against the Braves in the latter part of the game.
Yimi Garcia took out the Astros in the third inning as Framber Valdez got bombed, Jose Urquidy pitched an inning, Phil Maton played two innings and struck out three strikes, Ryan Stanek held the Astros without a hit and Kendall Graveman rebounded after granting a hit. He would end the game for Houston.
The Braves threw Tucker Davidson for Game 5. He played two innings and allowed four runs, two of which were earned, on two hits. AJ Minter would be hit for three runs on three hits while Drew Smyly played three innings and allowed two more runs on five hits.
Atlanta had eight hits in the game, but failed to push more points across the board when they needed them. Austin Riley was 3-for-4 and Travis d’Arnaud was 2-for-4.

Game 6 is scheduled for Tuesday night in Houston.
