Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick spoke about the Texas elementary school shooting that killed at least 19 people Tuesday on “Tucker Carlson tonight.”

DAN-PATRICK: Tucker, since being re-elected with Greg Abbott in 2014, this is now the fourth large mass shooting That we had. We had Sutherland Springs, the church. We had the Walmart in El Paso, Odessa and then… four years and a week ago we had the Santa Fe shootings, where we lost eight students and two teachers, and I’ll tell you, Tucker , that I’ve been to a lot of funerals, a lot of services, a lot of hospitals, nothing compares to what Bill [Melugin] just talked about the loss of a child. And I think when crimes like this happen, it’s pure evil, it impacts an entire nation.

UVALDE, TEXAS SCHOOL SHOOTING: 18 STUDENTS, ADULT KILLED, SUSPECTED SHOOTER DIED

Every parent, every grandparent who has a child imagines how they would feel if that happened to them. It’s something that goes to the heart of our soul, all of us, and I hope the the president is trying to unify, not divide us on this, because we as a nation will always remember this.

These children of this school, as adults, one day, will never forget it. These teachers, this community of 16,000 — the school system had only 4,000 students systemwide — Tucker. So these are crimes that go to the very core of who we are as people and I think as people we have to look internally and ask ourselves how did we get here?

It was an evil act. There’s a lot we’re going to learn, and it’s going to unfold in the days and weeks to come about this shooter. But tonight we must unite in prayer. We must unite in faith. We must unify and [ask] who are we?
