Teacher hacked to death with an ax in grisly assault: reports

The New Year opened with a gruesome and bloody scene in a city after a teacher was allegedly hacked to death, according to multiple reports.
A worker at Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir School, located in the Malkangiri of Odisha, India, reportedly accused one of the educators with the deadly weapon on Sunday. Police say the teacher, Nirakar Sethi (also spelled “Sethy” by other media), was rushed to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, Naresh Kshatriya, allegedly launched the assault following “a minor quarrel”, according to an Odisha TV report.
Local law enforcement reportedly believed the victim and her attacker, who were on campus at the time, had engaged in a verbal argument. However, things quickly spun out of control.

“The scene turned sour when Naresh lost his temper,” Odisha TV reported. “He took an ax and attacked Nirakar, leaving him badly injured.”
At one point, the teacher – who had started bleeding profusely – was seen by other instructors, according to the report. Fellow educators tried to save him by rushing to Malkangiri district headquarters hospital.
By the time they got there, however, the victim was apparently dead, according to Odisha TV. Medical professionals pronounced him dead shortly after his arrival.
Another outlet, a daily news publication called Pragativadireported that the teacher “died instantly”.
Law enforcement then seized the teacher’s corpse and returned it to his family after an autopsy, according to local media. Additionally, the police began to investigate the ordeal and detained the school employee so they could question him.
“The incident has become the talk of the town,” Odisha TV wrote.
The educator would have specialized in mathematics, according to the information site Odisha Bytes. Sources also informed this outlet of the supposed root of the couple’s trivial argument.
The teacher had apparently “found the door to the school open when he went there”. Afterwards, he allegedly asked the suspect to keep the door closed, citing concerns about safeguarding the garden and school properties. That’s when the school employee became “furious”.
“In a fit of rage he picked up an ax and allegedly attacked Sethy,” according to Odisha Bytes.
Newsweek contacted Malkangiri Police for comment.
