Tata Motors has just launched a longer-range Nexon EV. On the back of this electric SUV, Tata Motors is by far India’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer with over 85% market share and the Nexon is now the country’s best-selling SUV.
The Tata Nexon EV Max has a larger 40.5kWh battery, good for an ARAI range of 437km. That’s up from the standard Nexon EV’s 30.2kWh and its certified range of 312km. The pack itself continues to be a lithium-iron-phosphate pack, but Tata Motors says it has done work to improve its energy density. This led to a 40% increase in reach compared to a 33% increase in size.
Overdrive’s Tuhin Guha takes him for a ride on the highway and also around town to experience his actual range.
Overdrive was also in conversation with Martin Schwenk, MD and CEO of Mercedes Benz, to learn more about their new customer base and how the brand is handling some production and delivery delays.
