Tamil Nadu minister says Davos gave them opportunity to put state on world map

Thangam Thennarasu, minister of Tamil Nadu’s Department of Industries, said the World Economic Forum’s annual summit in Davos, which ended on Thursday, gave the state government an opportunity to put Tamil Nadu on the world map.

Speaking to CNBC-TV18’s Shereen Bhan in Davos, he said the state had attracted interest from dozens of businesses during the three days he was in Davos. “We’ve had a phenomenal response I would say. We’ve been here three days and we’re meeting with a number of companies, around 40-50 companies that we would have met. I would say every meeting is unique and really rewarding.

He added, “From a broader perspective, it has provided an opportunity to put Tamil Nadu on the map; to make others understand the unique benefits of coming to invest in Tamil Nadu.
