Suspected intruder chases resident and is shot

A suspected intruder in Alexandria, Louisiana pursued a resident on Saturday morning before the intended target shot him dead.

KALB reports that police received a call about the shooting around 6:20 a.m.

WNTZ notes that police arrived to find that Deon Dominique Hammond, 26, allegedly knocked on the back door of the house, demanding someone let him in.

A resident came out to ask Hammond to leave and Hammond allegedly chased the resident.

The resident then shot and fatally injured Hammond.

The Alexandria Police Department observes that it “considers the shooting to be justified, with no charges brought against the resident.”
