Sunrisers Hyderabad pace sensation Umran Malik wins national call for T20i against South Africa

Sunrisers Hyderabad pace sensation Umran Malik has been called up to the India squad for the upcoming five-game T20 International home series against South Africa starting June 9.

Umran has so far picked up 21 wickets in 13 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL but his ability to play 95mph consistently has captured everyone’s imagination. Along with Umran, Punjab Kings kill specialist Arshdeep Singh also got his first national call-up.

Regular captain Rohit Sharma, star hitter Virat Kohli, pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have all been rested for the series of white balls in which Rishabh Pant will be the vice-skip.

Rohit, Kohli, Bumrah will all fly to England on June 15 for the single England Test at Edgbaston from July 1-5 and will be joined by Cheteshwar Pujara, who has earned a recall to the India Test squad of 17 members after a stunning display in the English County Championship for Sussex.

Ditto for the versatile Hardik Pandya, who successfully led the new Gujarat Titans franchise into the IPL play-offs and was consistent with the bat, as well as getting a few overs at a brisk pace. I
