Stats show Arsenal super-sub Reiss Nelson are ahead of Erling Haaland and Marcus Rashford as the Premier League’s most productive player this season

An extraordinary stat has been revealed showing just how important Arsenal striker Reiss Nelson has been this season.

The Gunners are chasing a first Premier League title in 19 years – their last during the famous Invincibles campaign – and are favorites with many after an incredible weekend.

Nelson scored the winner against Bournemouth last weekend

Arsenal’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Bournemouth saw them keep Manchester City five points top of the table, with Nelson firing the winner in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

The 23-year-old has only made three Premier League appearances in total, a mere 84 minutes.

But that time was well spent, with Nelson scoring three goals and setting up two goals – giving him the best minutes per goal of any player in the Premier League this season who has five or more goals combined.

That means every 17 minutes of Premier League action, Nelson scores or assists, earning him miles, City hotshot Erling Haaland (63) and Manchester United star Marcus Rashford (115) .

The third-best player is Brighton’s Evan Ferguson with a goal or assist every 77 minutes, then, remarkably, United’s Anthony Martial is at 92.

However, Nelson rocked the competition with his incredible impact on the pitch in such a limited period of time, with his superb left-foot rocket against the Cherries his best effort.

Nelson only played 21 minutes against Bournemouth but scored and also assisted Ben White for the equalizer earlier in the game.

But it’s not the first time the winger has made an impact this season, having netted twice against Nottingham Forest earlier in the season from the bench. He also got help in the process.

His only other Premier League appearance lasted mere seconds when he was scrapped for the final moments against Wolves in November.

And Nelson’s lack of playing time could prompt him to leave Arsenal at the end of the season despite Mikel Arteta wanting him to stay.

Nelson will see his contract expire at the end of the season

There is a contract offer on the table for the Englishman but his current deal expires at the end of the season, CBS Sports report.

The report adds that there is interest from French side Nice, as well as Brighton, who may be able to offer the former Feyenoord player more playing time.

But Nelson is a huge Arsenal fan and contract negotiations have reportedly gone smoothly so far.
