Some Old Spice Secret Deodorant Sprays Recalled Due to Carcinogenic Chemical

| Local News | News Today

Procter & Gamble has issued a recall for 18 Secret and Old Spice spray deodorants due to the presence of a chemical compound that can cause cancer.

Procter & Gamble added that “daily exposure” to benzene in amounts found in its products should “not” cause health problems. He also said he had not received any reports of “adverse events” related to products containing benzene, but was recalling them “out of caution”.

Benzene is generally used as a solvent in the production of pharmaceuticals or other chemicals.

According to the National Cancer Institute, one of the most common ways of exposure to benzene is through cigarettes. It is also found in some glues, cleaners, paint strippers and in gasoline and exhaust gases, among other sources.

The announcement from Procter & Gamble said people should stop using the affected products and can get a refund if they bought them. You can find more information on how to get a refund on the Old Spice and Secret websites.
