Some Liverpool fans believe they have found Philippe Coutinho’s replacement in the form of talented teenager Fabio Carvalho with a ‘deal done’ for the Fulham ace

Liverpool appear set to secure the services of much-loved Fulham youngster Fabio Carvalho and the player has already caused Reds fans to draw comparisons to former favorite Philippe Coutinho.

Jurgen Klopp was expected to sign Carvalho on the last day of the January transfer window and loan him to the Cottagers but ran out of time to complete the deal.

Coutinho has been impressive since returning to the Premier League, after several years in the desert at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The 19-year-old striker is now set to move to Anfield this summer and sign a five-year deal in a deal worth £5m plus add-ons.

Reports suggest that Carvalho has already undergone a Reds medical, courtesy of his current club, ahead of a transfer.

It will be the second time Liverpool have signed a young talent from Fulham in recent years, having landed Harvey Elliott in 2019.

Carvalho has been excellent for Marco Silva’s side this season who look set to make a return to the Premier League as they lead the Championship on 11 points.

The teenage star made 31 appearances, scoring eight times and providing seven assists, with one of those strikes even coming against Reds title rivals Man City in the FA Cup fourth round.

Given his performances, he draws comparisons to former Liverpool fan favorite Coutinho.

Some fans on social media even claim they have finally found a player to fill the Brazilian magician’s boots at No.10.

While the Lisbon-born striker is capable of producing that moment of magic in games, he also shares the same traits as Coutinho which is to drift from the left channel.

Some fans have taken to Twitter to offer their thoughts on the Carvalho-Coutinho comparison.

The youngster is arguably a better all-around player, although he still has some way to go to match Coutinho’s level on his best unstoppable result in a Reds shirt.

Carvalho is more direct and usually chops the ball around the penalty area, while Coutinho reportedly tends to curl the ball towards goal.

And that’s not to say Carvalho isn’t capable of it – as you can see in the video above of one of his goals for Fulham which is virtually identical to a finish we’ve regularly seen produced. by Coutinho.

It looks like Liverpool are continuing to build for the long-term future, and kudos must go to the club’s transfer chief Julian Ward and the scouting department on what is likely to be another fine post-Elliott capture.
