Monday morning’s snow was good news for skiers and snowboarders across the state waiting for fresh snow to hit the slopes.

“It’s a great day today. Mother Nature shone on us overnight and gave us some fresh, natural snow, ”said Mark Tibbitts, President and CEO of Mt. Holly Ski Resort. “It’s amazing how much natural snow on the ground gets people to ski. “

Tibbitts said more than 1,000 people came to take advantage of the fresh snow cover on Monday.

“I feel fantastic. The snow feels really good. Having a lot of fun. My first time here this year,” said Matthew Grawburg, customer.

Grawburg made the trip north to Warren.

“It’s a lot of fun being on the snow and just getting a good feel for the outdoors in the middle of winter. It’s fantastic, ”said Grawburg.

The same goes for Kelsey Livingston.

“This is the first day that there is like snow in nature itself. So I’m having a blast, ”Livingston said.

Livingston said she arrived early to hit the slopes. She said Mount Holly is the place to be when the snow is flying.

“It’s going to be a blast. You will fall several times. It’s a really good time, ”she said.

As for Tibbitts, he is optimistic that winter weather events that provide inches of snow at a time will soon be more frequent. In the meantime, he said, snow enthusiasts have plenty of reasons to stop.

“Winter has been a bit intermittent. But we still have a lot of snow here and a lot of trails to go, ”said Tibbitts.

During the season, Mt. Holly is open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week as long as it is cold enough and there is snow.
