Snoop Dogg quits like it’s hot – or so he says.
The rapper and legendary kush enthusiast says he’s giving up the puff.
“After much thought and conversation with my family, I have decided to quit smoking,” he wrote on Instagram. “Please respect my privacy at this time.”
The serious statement, coupled with an equally solemn black-and-white photo and signature, led some to wonder if the remarks were some sort of joke. He could not immediately be reached for comment.
Fans were a little taken aback by this statement. “Waiting for the plot twist,” one wrote. “In two days he will say his account was hacked,” said another. “Smoking briskets?” » wondered another.
Additionally, the statement doesn’t say that Snoop Dogg is giving up cannabis per se, as edibles are obviously a popular option.
The 50-year-old marijuana advocate smoked a joint while walking the MTV Movie Awards red carpet in 2021 and has business ties to various varieties of edibles and weed. He once said he smoked 81 joints a day and had a personal blunt roller.
Snoop Dogg previously said earlier this year that he was cutting down on his smoking after becoming a grandfather.
“Being a grandfather has changed me in many ways,” he told the Daily Mail in March. “The main way is to care about the way I live, the way I move, the kind of people I associate with, because I want to see my grandchildren grow old. The only way to do this is to take precautionary measures about how I move, who I spend time with, where I go out, my consumption, what I consume. Am I doing extracurricular activities or am I just doing what I’m supposed to do? »
Long considered relatively harmless, recent studies suggest that marijuana use is more harmful than previously thought. Two major longitudinal studios have suggested that marijuana use can impair cognitive abilities to a “considerable and significant” degree.
