Shy Wolf Sanctuary announces the death of Silver Fox Gracie

| Local News | Fox News

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla .– The Shy Wolf Sanctuary in Naples has announced the unexpected death of one of their silver foxes, Gracie.

On Sunday morning, 4-year-old Gracie was found unconscious and another brother, George, another of their silver foxes, was also not doing well.

Both foxes were rushed to the emergency vet and CPR was performed on Gracie along the way.

Sadly, the Shy Wolf Sanctuary has stated that Gracie’s heart has stopped and they cannot bring her back.

George stabilized and was closely monitored overnight in the emergency pet hospital. He was taken to the sanctuary’s senior veterinarian on Monday morning for continued care. He would have had a high fever which was starting to go down.

The shrine said nothing was found in their blood, x-rays and ultrasounds. An autopsy was performed on Gracie and nothing obvious was found, so they are awaiting the results of the fox pathology report.

The shrine said Gracie enjoyed playing with George and their pregnant mate, Milo. Gracie loved to be scratched and kissed and made her fox cackle whenever she was horny or chasing her brother.

“Gracie was loved by everyone who met her and she had a very special bond with several volunteers and staff,” the shrine wrote in a Facebook post. “We love you Gracie fox and we miss you terribly.”
