Shipments to Taiwan’s iPhone assembly plant in China blocked by Chinese authorities

The Chinese Communist Party’s retaliation against Taiwan continues, this via Nikkei (may be closed):

  • Shipments to iPhone assembler Pegatron’s plant in China were held up for review by Chinese customs officials a day after the company’s top executive met with US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi , in Taipei during a visit that was harshly condemned by Beijing.
  • Shipments to the Pegatron factory in Suzhou, which manufactures a wide range of products for US customers like Microsoft and Tesla, were checked on Thursday to see if they violated a rule banning boxes bearing the words “Taiwan” or “Republic of China”.

China has sent a barrage of missiles over Taiwan, in addition to closing sea lanes and air routes near the country in previous displays of belligerence. China opposes visits to Taiwan by elected representatives from other democracies, even warning the UK:

Some of the ballistic missiles launched by China towards Taiwan have landed on Japanese territory.
