There’s plenty of fantastic horse racing this weekend with the Shergar Cup featuring a plethora of Class 2 shows as well as group races at Newmarket, Curragh and Haydock.

Ascot Race Tips

1.35: Divine Magic 11/2 (NB)

Divine Magic is incredibly consistent, especially this season finishing behind prominent winners Heredia, Nizaaka and Dubai Love.

She finished first at Leicester two starts ago and under Takeshi Yokoyama looks set at a handsome price of 11/2 as one of the main contenders.

2.10, Shergar Cup Dash: Star King 11/2

This gelding trained by Michael Appleby is in great shape, as is his trainer who has a 21% strike rate over the past two weeks.

He will likely be able to build on a solid second place finish at Ascot last time out and he even beat Sandown winner Lovely Mana, who was five lengths behind at the end and suggests there is more to come.

2.45, Shergar Cup Remainers: Super Superjack 9/4 and Rock Eagle 5/1

Rock Eagle will start in the same vein at Royal Ascot where he finished a respectable seven behind progressive and now Group 1 rider Coltrane.

Andrew Balding finished just under five lengths behind Kyprios and Stradivarius, so there’s a lot to love about this 2m horse.

He last saw him get behind Reshoun in July and it’s very likely he’ll be in the thick of the action again.

Super Superjack has been super consistent recently over a variety of distances and will certainly be there at the finish under Nicola Currie to make an attractive forecast/exacta.

Super Superjack is often a popular punt and as won at Ascot before and makes it a very strong favorite

4:30 p.m.: Berkshire Breeze 7/2

He still doesn’t have a lead in six races, but he’s managed to move up the class recently, only denied by a head last time and a neckline two starts ago.

Joanna Mason gets the mount this time around and is in good form with four wins over the past two weeks and this favorite is quite easy to support trained by Andrew Balding.

Curragh Racing Tips

3.15: Go Bears Go 11/4 & New York City 12/1 each way

It has been a disappointment since winning Group 3 at Ascot in April but has still finished respectably in three runs since in Groups 1 and 2.

Easy to bet on all the same especially if combined with a one way bet on New York City for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore.

There are a plethora of options and impressive horses out there, but this three-year-old, with plenty of fairway form, also looks promising.

Even if it’s just to keep faith in the profitable combo of trainer and jockey.

4.15: Little Big Bear 5/2

This could be one of the races of the day as the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes should be a big battle for this promising two-year-old with a huge career ahead of them.

Bradsell is the favorite after two races and two wins and will be ridden by Hollie Doyle after this encouraging victory over Persian Force at Royal Ascot.

She’s been on fire recently and boasts a 25% hit rate on 60 massive rides in just two weeks.

They are prolific two-year-olds and there will likely be some improvement that will make for a fascinating and close matchup.

But that victory on the course last time out for Little Big Bear is hard to ignore on a test track and could prove a powerful test for the colt trained by Archie Watson.

Haydock Race Tips

3:00 p.m.: Grocer Jack 7/4 (NAP)

More group action here at Haydock and it’s Grocer Jack who could do it all under Tom Marquand for William Haggas.

He is rated at 118, well ahead of the rest of the field but will start at the same weight, so it will come as no surprise to see his price drop, especially given the resounding success last time out at Newbury by nine lengths.

Newmarket Race Tips

3:40 p.m.: Divina Grace 16/1

Group competitions for two-year-olds can often bring surprises in betting with some big prizes on those who shouldn’t do as well and even exceed what their pedigree might suggest.

Especially when they come up against top yards and trainers of prolific bulls.

The one that might surprise the peloton is this filler that won over course and distance last time out in a first Class 4 event.

Could progress from that win in what was only her second race given she is by Golden Horn, who has also thrived moving up the class – but backing anyone up in this race is going to be a gamble.
